Bushtit’s Nest (Nest Series) (2014, linocut, 15″ x 11″)
April in the Sierras is a birder’s paradise and in one of my Live Oaks, a pair of Bushtits created their annual hanging masterpiece. The male was particularly suspicious of me and my sketchbook as I spent many hours in rapt attention, continually amazed at the flexibility and sturdiness of what appears to be random bits of forest fluff glued together with spider silk! The engineering skills they must have!
